“It is important that the Hungarian audience and musical community get to know the latest international trends and directions, the contemporary music of the world. It makes a comparison of foreign and Hungarian modern music possible,” said Zsolt Durkó, founder of the Mini Festival. The programme of the 30th instalment of the concert series includes works by one of the most renowned Israeli composers, Yinam Leef (1953).

Born in Jerusalem, the composer was raised in a “crossfire” of cultures. He was influenced by classical music and jazz, and as a child, he was deeply impressed by Jewish prayers, the song of muezzins, and the bells of the city’s Christian churches. His first published works were based on Jewish melodies.

A committed supporter of young talents, Yinam Leef has been teaching at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance since 1985.
